Pasco County Florida is located northwest of Tampa. The primary law enforcement agency is the Pasco County Sheriffs Office. The law enforcement community wrote close to 20,000 speeding tickets in 2007. The Florida Highway Patrol was responsible for almost 8,000 speeding tickets. Pasco County has an extremely aggressive DUI enforcement program. In 2007 there was over 2,000 arrests for driving under the influence(DUI). Including speeding tickets, there were over 40,000 moving violations written in Pasco County. Over 4,000 citations were issued for careless driving.
Pasco County is located in the sixth judicial circuit with Pinellas County. There are two courthouses in Pasco County, one in Dade City and the other in New Port Richey. The New Port Richey court complex is referred to as the West Pasco Judicial Center.
The State Attorney for the sixth judicial circuit is Bernie McCabe. He has been the State Attorney since 1992.
