Jackson County is located in the northern part of Florida in the panhandle. Adjacent counties in Florida include Gadsden County, Holmes County, Liberty County, Bay County, Calhoun County and Washington County. There are approximately 47,000 people currently in Jackson County. The incorporated cities and towns of Jackson County include the Town of Alford, the Town of Sneads, the Town of Bascom, the City of Mariana, the Town of Campbellton, the Town of Malone, the Town of Cottondale, Jacob City, Graceville, the Town of Greenwood and the Town of Grand Ridge. Jackson County spans about 955 square miles, 39 of which are water.
Jackson County is under the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida. The Chief Judge is currently Judge Hentz McClellan. The main Jackson County courthouse is in Marianna at 4445 Lafayette Street. The Law Enforcement Agencies of Jackson County write about 16,000 traffic tickets per year. Some of the agencies include the City Police of Cottondale, the City Police of Graceville, the City Police of Marianna, the City Police of Sneads and the Florida Highway Patrol. The current sheriff is Sheriff Louis S. Roberts III.
