Jonathan Kerr received his bachelor’s degree in from Indiana University in 2002. Thereafter, he attended Florida State University College of Law, where he worked for the Innocence Project, reviewing D.N.A. evidence in criminal cases in hopes of overturning false convictions. Jonathan graduated from FSU College of Law in 2005.
After passing the Florida Bar Jonathan accepted a job in Orlando at the Public Defender’s Office in the 9th Judicial Circuit. Jonathan began in misdemeanor court representing hundreds of clients with charges ranging from DUI to Domestic Violence. Jonathan quickly gained the reputation as a zealous advocate and was featured in an article in The Orlando Sentinel on young public attorneys.
Jonathan rapidly moved to felony court defending clients with charges ranging from felony Driving While License Suspended to Trafficking in Cocaine.
Upon leaving the Public Defenders Office Jonathan accepted a job at the State Attorney’s Office in Sarasota County. During his time as a prosecutor, Jonathan researched and handled various issues pertaining to DUI in Sarasota County. Jonathan earned the reputation as a fair and reasonable prosecutor seeking justice for all parties involved.
